Lost Textbook Policy
Every
year the Flint Community Schools has to spend
thousands of dollars to replace lost textbooks.
This money should be used to provide
our students with better instructional materials
and state-of-the art equipment and technology
to
help them compete with outlying districts.
In order to encourage a student's sense of
responsibility for his/her textbooks, Whittier
has developed the following policy:
Each student will be issued a complete set of books at the beginning
of the school year. If any of these books is lost, another will not be issued
until/unless half of its
replacement cost has been paid. The student is
ultimately responsible
for the entire cost of the book.
If a student pays for a book which is later found, any money paid will be returned.
Textbooks will be returned to the library at the end of the year. The barcode determines who receives credit for the book's return. No one can get credit for returning a text that has no barcode.
Lost/Overdue Library Book Policy
If a student has lost or not returned a library book from Whittier--or any other Flint school library, he/she will lose check-out privileges until the item has been returned or paid for. If a lost/overdue library book is later found, any money paid for this item will be refunded.
